Hey,

I am the owner of the new Chihiros Universal WRGB (quiet happy for the moment).

I was disappointed about such low advertised lumens. For example, my Universal 800 is only advertised 2789 lumens which seems quiet low.
In the meantime, visually the ramp looks really powerful.

Then my question is, how are measured lumens for this model ? Only White channel ? Only RGB channels ? Both white and RGB channels ?

Thanks !

The lumens are based on the integrating sphere test, because the light’s housing is black, it will absorb the lumens in the test, so the test data will be smaller than the actual.

Thanks for your reply !
Could make sense but I just realized that nearly all lights have black housing, like the WRGB II.

Is the Universal much less powerful or am I missing something ?

Comparing to WRGB or VIVID II series, Universal WRGB is less powerful.
The WRGB II Pro and the RGB VIVID II 10th Edition are the most power lights.

Yes of course it is.
But in fact if I compare to competing products, like in my case the Juwel Helialux Spectrum, this one claims to be at 4480 lumens.

For having tested both, the Chihiros looks as bright as the Juwel in fact…
I’m pretty sure I’m missing something with the measurements and the capacity of this Chihiros Light

I have a universal wrgb 1500 and it seems a lot more than the 7358 lumens declared.
I started the aquarium like a month ago, so it's early to judge, but at the moment.. so far so good, no algae and well deployed plants..
I was skeptical about the lumens, as I'm running the lights in a 490liter (net)..
Time will tell, for now I'm very happy :)

Hey Jei, thanks for your insight !
At least i’m not crazy and the only one to have this feeling that the ramp seems way powerful than specs lumens :)

I don’t know how or if it’s just a visual impression thats why I was asking here.

Hi All,
This is interesting in fact. I also just got the Universal WRGB 800 and it gives me the impression that is more lumens than specified. Did any of you find out the best way to test the actual lumens this light has? thanks so much
