Problem reassembling inline CO2 diffuser

For practical reasons, I wanted to change my CO2 hose, but when unscrewing the locknut, a larger part than expected came unscrewed and what seems to be the check valve came apart. Despite all my efforts, I haven’t been able to reassemble it. It feels like the two threads are not the same size, though nothing seems damaged. Could you tell me if the reassembly direction in my photos is correct? And where should I place the O-ring?

Thank you for the video. I followed the exact same steps, but unfortunately it’s not working — the parts won’t screw together. Could you please clarify where exactly the O-ring should be positioned?
I appreciate your help.

First put the O ring, then the spring, next the white part.
After installing, press the end, then unscrew it.
