Chihiroa Magnetic Light 2 – Settings for Dry Start (UNS 5U, DHG carpet)

I’m looking for advice on optimal settings for the Chihiros Magnetic Light 2.

My setup:
  • Tank: UNS 5N (approx. 4.9 gallons / 36 × 18 × 23 cm)
  • Method: Dry start (DSM)
  • Plants: Dwarf Hair Grass (DHG) carpet
  • Substrate: UNS controsoil
  • Tank is fully covered with high humidity
  • Light is positioned 15 inches above soil/ground level of my planted tank.
Since this is a dry start, the plants are growing emersed (with access to atmospheric CO₂), and I want to avoid issues like mold, melting, or algae during the transition phase.

I’m trying to figure out:
  1. What intensity (%) should I run the Magnetic Light 2 during dry start?
  2. How many hours per day is ideal?
  3. Should I use all RGB + white channels equally, or favor certain channels for carpet growth?
  4. Is it better to start lower and ramp up, or begin at a moderate intensity?
  5. What intensity and time do I run the light when it’s flooded? (No co2)
Right now I’m unsure if I should be closer to ~40% vs higher like 60%+, and I want to avoid overdoing it early.

Any advice specific to dry start + carpeting plants like DHG would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance 🙏
